7 tips for surviving the awkward grow out hair phase

The grow-out hair phase could be annoying sometimes. You can’t style them properly, you tried to put them in place but windy days are your worst enemy, the only thing you wish for is for them to grow out as quickly as possible. Well..of course all-natural growth takes time, no matter how much hair vitamins or supplements you try.

Before we dig in to some hacks and tips, first define what ‘awkward hair length’ is. If you have shoulder-length hair you can rock so many fabulous hair styles with short to medium length, it gives you the ‘younger look’ consider adding face framing layers and side-swept fringe. It’s a fresh looking style that adds dimension to any hair type. So instead of feeling annoyed and awkward about it just embrace your hair with different hairstyle!

However, It can still be pretty hard in some situations. Here are 7 tips for surviving awkward grow-out hair phase.

1. Beanie

The easiest method for dealing with awkward hair length is wearing a hat or a beanie. Headband can also help especially when going to the gym or playing sports, but these aren’t suitable for more formal situation. You can’t wear a headband to a social meeting and looking like a 90’s sitcom mother...that’s awkward! The point is we’re trying to make you look your best here. But if you’re going for a grocery shopping or picking up kids from school then beanies,hats and headbands are your best options for grab and go.

2. Get wavy

Curl your hair is another great way to embrace your hair, either with curling iron or rolls for a more healthy option to curl your hair without damaging with the heat. Girls with wavy hair symbolise freedom, fun, high energy and confidence.

3. ASK the stylist

Every girls have their favourite salon to get their hair done. So instead of just getting your service and go, asking the hair stylist about how to style your hair is the best decision ever. Stylist know exactly how to make any hair looks good, they will encourage you to try more styles and give you tricks on which hair products are suitable for your hair type.

4. Bobby pins

Bobby pins are great for ‘bang regrets’ and bang grow-out phase. It is well known to be the most frustrating state of hair, when it’s long enough to reach your eyes but aren’t long enough to tuck behind your ears. Having bobby pins ready in your purse for emergency is a must. While pinning your bangs to sides aren’t the most attractive hairstyle, you can create so many cute hairstyles with bobby pins such as Twist-up, Main sweep, Laid Back Locks or Wet comb back. These are great for more formal events and make you look presentable as well. However if it’s long enough to braid, try braiding your bang and pin it with bobby pins to create a little headband. Not only that the hair is out off your face but also create a very fashionable look on you!

5. Hair products

If your hair isn’t falling the way you’d like it to naturally, this is when hair products come in handy. As I mentioned earlier, you can ask the hairstylist for their recommendation on the perfect hair products for you. You might consider buying a texture-adding hair products to gives your hair more volume, mainly because the grow-out hair phase is most likely to be thin and flat.

6. Dye it

Dye your hair is a fun way to change your style during the boring transitions. Get creative and look for inspiration on pinterest. You’ll have a lot of fun that until you realised, you have passed the hair grow-out phase already.

7. There’ll always be hair extension

At the end of the day there’ll always be hair extension, just make sure that they look as natural as possible and in charge of a professional hairdresser. And remember..you’re beautiful as you are :)
