This Farangs opinion about living in Ekkamai | Bowlpop ep.2

Ekkamai has been my home for almost 3 months now, here are some thoughts and opinions:

- Gateway mall rocks! Packed with so many Japanese restaurants, cute small stores, two food courts, store to experience virtual reality and a good old escape the room challenge. Hanging here makes me chilled down and it has quiet a different atmosphere then lets say Terminal 21. The downstairs food court is not a generic one but has some neat and creative food options, there is a Mugiwara store upstairs - shop that sells everything in relation to One Piece anime and a couple of other weaboo themed Japanese stores. Still did not check out the huge arcade on the top floor but it looks fun and very diverse. I was surprised at the escape the room experience, it was really tough, the service is good and story lines are quiet interesting. Out of 4 different narratives I have tried 2 and because my party never finished the quest, I am not going back to lose face again (Asian style).

- Science center for education is a chilled down place to spend an afternoon and learn some science! Its very cheap in order to enter all of the property and you can go for the planetarium that is really cool, unfortunately the presentations are only in Thai. The physics section is, in my opinion, the best cuz it has the history, some experiments and a couple of videos that make you feel goosebumped and excited about the universe! Library is quiet small and pretty much everything is in Thai and so are the biology section with the aquarium. They have done a great job in the dinosaur section tho, definately worth a walk-through.
- Major Cineplexx Sukhumvit: only for the purpose of movies, they have build a freaking mall that has a bunch of standard delicious restaurants and a quiet fancy vibe. Cinema is better then average cineplexx, feels like seats are more comfy and screen is curved. Major is linked to WeFitness which is (if you can afford it) one of the best gyms in the area.
- Down the Big C soi: countless bars, quirky stores, street food places, massages and fancy restaurants; you can find pretty much anything down this road. It has a vibe of very vibrant, multi-cultural environment, where alot of expats like to hangout, but not in a Nana-way.
- Dog caffe: a must go for all of the dog lovers :) friendly, warm and clean. Animals look happy and well taken care of. Huskeys were my preference by far.
Living here is pretty good, so many different options. And if you want something else, most of the other interesting Sukhumvit places are just a station or 2 away if you take BTS.
